What is KiKa's mission?
Every child cancer-free.
That is our goal.
Childhood cancer research
Annually, almost 600 children in the Netherlands develop cancer. Partly due to KiKa's funding 81% of these children now survive the first five years after diagnosis. This is a significant improvement from around 72% approximately 20 years ago, providing clear evidence that research truly makes a difference, bringing us closer to a 100% cure rate.
The research supported by KiKa focuses on various themes, including developing better medications, reducing pain during treatments, increasing the likelihood of cure, and improving the quality of life for patients, even (years) after treatment.
Additionally, we provide education and raise awareness about childhood cancer. KiKa is the only charity in the Netherlands that invests in research studies to all forms of childhood cancer.
All of this important work is only possible due to the support of donors, sponsors, fundraisers, companies and many more!
