Over the years, KiKa has invested in transformative projects that are changing lives. 81% Of children with cancer survive the first five years after diagnosis, a significant improvement from the 70% rate two decades ago. Here's how your support is helping:

For program funding for the Princess Máxima Centre
KiKa supports the research department through core-financing and project-financing. Annually, the Máxima receives so-called core funding from KiKa. This core financing is used for research groups, equipment, and core facilities to make groundbreaking discoveries.
€ 10.3 million
For the construction and expansion of the Prinses Máxima Centre
Through well-known TV campaigns like 'Geef KiKa de 10' and 'Draag je steentje bij,' the construction of the Prinses Máxima Centre became a reality. These TV shows raised many millions. In 2022, an additional € 2,2 million was raised specifically for the construction of two additional research departments in the Prinses Máxima Centre.

The research projects funded by KiKa show significant outcomes. In total, there are 235 ongoing projects. Each project spans approximately 4 years, with an average cost ranging between 400,000 and 800,000 euros. KiKa precisely reviews all research proposals.

International partnerships are important to give a boost to the cure rate of childhood cancer. KiKa stays focussed on financing research based in the Netherlands.

KiKa aims to educate children more about childhood cancer and help them better understand what their peers with cancer are going through. That's why dedicated guest lecturers provide information to elementary school children. KiKa also allocates funds for educational campaigns.
